The CIS countries will develop a concept of military cooperation until 2030. The decision was made in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the world. The Secretary General of the Commonwealth Sergei Lebedev said at a meeting of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the member states of the organization in Moscow.
According to him, we are going through difficult times of transformation of the entire world order.
«New armed conflicts have arisen and previous ones have resumed, bloc and interstate confrontations have become extremely aggravated. All this is a consequence of the global dominance of the United States and NATO. It is obvious that an important stabilizing factor in the current situation is the expansion of cooperation in the field of military security. We in the CIS are starting to develop a draft concept of military cooperation until 2030, in which we will outline clear priorities and new guidelines for interaction,» he said.
He added that the CIS proceeds from the fact that combat and tactical-technical training of the armed forces of member countries «should be conducted on the basis of mutual enrichment of existing practical experience and scientific achievements.»
«Destruction of the global security system has made it vital to strengthen the collective and national security of the CIS countries,» Sergei Lebedev said.
The Secretary General of the Commonwealth noted that the global security system created after World War II can no longer cope with the challenges of modern times. Therefore, strengthening national and collective security in the CIS and Eurasia as a whole has become a vital necessity for the countries.
It was noted that interaction is being built up in the CIS, CSTO and SCO formats.
