Nurlan Motuev detained for incitement of interethnic hatred

Law enforcement officers detained Nurlan Motuev in Bishkek, the press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital reported.

He is suspected of inciting racial, ethnic, national, religious interregional hatred (discord).

The police noted that on October 16, 2024, during monitoring of social media, it was revealed that Nurlan Motuev spoke out negatively on Instagram against representatives of a national minority thereby inciting interethnic hatred (discord), humiliating, as well as promoting the exclusivity, superiority or inferiority of citizens on the basis of an interethnic conflict, committed publicly using the Internet.

«An examination has been ordered based on the fact, according to the results of which the materials provided for the study contain linguistic signs of propaganda of exclusivity, superiority, inferiority of a person on the basis of nationality. The materials provided for examination contain linguistic signs of interethnic hatred,» the statement says.

Law enforcement officers opened a case under the article «Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious interregional hatred (hatred)» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Motuev was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Parliament, deputy Kamila Talieva said that citizens, who have suffered from fraudsters, turn to Nurlan Motuev because they do not trust the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Nurlan Motuev, at the request of the victims, publishes photographs and data of the alleged fraudsters on social media, and after that, the deceived people allegedly get back their stolen money.
