High maternal mortality rate persists in Kyrgyzstan. The demographic yearbook of the National Statistical Committee contains the data.
At least 33 women died from complications of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period in 2023, the agency reports.
Infant mortality, despite a noticeable reduction in the figures in recent years, also remains high, the yearbook says.
Last year, 2,040 babies under 12 months old died from various diseases, poisonings and injuries.
