A slight increase in maternal mortality rate was registered in Kyrgyzstan: 24 facts have been recorded since the beginning of the year. In 2017, at least 22 mothers died during the same period. Raisa Asylbasheva, Chief Specialist of the Medical Aid Organization of the Ministry of Health, told 24.kg news agency.
She noted that extragenital diseases remained one of the main causes of death. Often, women enter maternity hospitals in extremely serious condition.
According to her, the Ministry of Health is working on family planning and improvement of the quality of medical care.
«Clinical protocols are being developed along with the standards of operating procedures — algorithms of actions of the medical workers. We also strengthen the role of nurses, especially in the regions where there is a shortage of obstetricians and gynecologists,» the expert noted.
She noted that regulatory documents and staff schedules were reviewed, taking into account the new requirements and recommendations.
