Major repairs of Bishkek — Osh highway will begin in 2025, in particular, the renewal of the asphalt concrete pavement in Suusamyr Valley. First Deputy Minister of Transport of Kyrgyzstan Talantbek Soltobaev said at a briefing in Bishkek.
According to him, construction of this transport artery began in 1997 and was completed in 2005. However, for 20 years of operation, the pavement has become significantly damaged, and its condition is deteriorating every year.
«It’s time for major repairs. We plan to completely renew the asphalt concrete pavement in the Suusamyr Valley next year,» Talantbek Soltobaev said.
The deputy minister added that major repairs include both a complete renewal of the pavement and the possibility of repairing the existing one with the laying of a new layer. The length of the road is 670 kilometers. He stressed that the work will continue not only in the Suusamyr Valley, but also in other areas. The repair time will depend on the allocated funds, and the ministry intends to maintain the roads in good condition. He also recalled that 197 million soms were collected at collection points in Sosnovka and Kara-Kul in 2023, which will also be used to maintain the tunnel and other road projects throughout the republic.
