Commissioning of the new North-South road between Issyk-Kul and Jalal-Abad is scheduled for spring 2025. The First Deputy Minister of Transport Talantbek Soltobaev said at a briefing.
He noted that 95 percent of the work on the construction of the tunnel at Kok-Art pass has been completed. The work is expected to be completed by November.
According to the official, the total length of the new route will be 453 kilometers.
Construction of the alternative North-South road began in 2014. The cost of the project is $850 million, its author is Kyrgyzdortransproekt.
