The Ambassador of Germany to the Kyrgyz Republic Gabriela Guellil asked the Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiev to assist in resuming the teaching of German to Kyrgyz schoolchildren. The press service of the Parliament reported.
The parties also discussed issues of building political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Nurlanbek Shakiev emphasized that bilateral partnership between Germany and the Kyrgyz Republic has been actively developing in recent years.
«Bilateral meetings are held, the agreements reached are being successfully implemented. We attach great importance to the development of cooperation with Germany, since Germany is one of the closest and most reliable partners in Europe. Kyrgyzstan is interested in expanding existing relations and interaction in such areas as industry, tourism, healthcare and education,» he said, expressing gratitude for the support in the implementation of social and economic projects. Touching upon the issue of Kyrgyzstanis working in Germany, the Speaker of the Parliament noted that their working conditions have been recently improved.
He added that there are many young people in the Kyrgyz Republic who want to study in Germany. «I hope that, as an ambassador, you will pay special attention to the issue of increasing the quota for students from the Kyrgyz Republic,» Nurlanbek Shakiev said.
Gabriela Guellil noted that she would take into account the proposals made. She focused on specific infrastructure projects in the areas of healthcare and education, implemented with the support of Germany.
The Ambassador recalled the successful holding of the Kyrgyz-German Business Forum, which took place as part of the visit of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov to Germany, noting that it is an important step in establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs. According to her, following the event, a large group of investors from Bavaria is expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan in the near future.
