Energy Minister tells about import of electricity by Kyrgyzstan

The Minister of Energy told how much electricity Kyrgyzstan will import. A board meeting on the results of the first nine months of 2024 was held at the ministry.

According to Taalaibek Ibraev, this year imports will amount to 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours.

He noted the recent meeting with colleagues from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, at which the issue of electricity supplies to Kyrgyzstan was also discussed.

«You know that we have an electricity deficit. This year, supplies will amount to 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours, next year we plan to increase it to 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours. The relevant documents have been signed,» the official said.

The head of the relevant ministry also told about preparations for the autumn-winter period. According to Taalaibek Ibraev, preparations are going better than in previous years.

«We have also prepared better this year. Everyone asks one question: will there be blackouts? Therefore, it is our duty to provide our citizens with electricity around the clock without interruption,» he noted.
