A new department has been created under the Ministry of Education. The decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
As its press service reported, the National Center for Education Quality Assessment and Information Technology under the Ministry of Education and Science has been renamed into the Department for Education Quality Development.
The department’s activities will be based on self-financing without the need for additional funds from the republican budget.
The Ministry of Education’s website states that the center is a state non-profit institution. «The purpose of its activities is to promote the development of the education system in the republic through objective assessment of the level of achievement in the form of testing students of general education organizations and applicants to educational organizations of secondary and higher vocational education and the development of the information infrastructure of the education system of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the website says.
The main activities of the department:
- Republican voluntary test as an alternative exam;
- Altyn Tamga testing for applicants for a certificate with honors;
- Final state certification in basic and secondary schools;
- Entrance examinations to universities in foreign countries and the Kyrgyz Republic (China, Hungary, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia);
- Entrance examinations to universities in the Kyrgyz Republic for ethnic Kyrgyz;
- Entrance examinations to foreign military universities.
