Kyrgyzstan’s film directors will take part in the XVI Tashkent International Film Festival Pearl of the Silk Road, which will be held in late September. The Cinematography Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to it, more than 400 full-length and short films from 60 countries have been submitted for the competition. The best will be determined by a jury consisting of international experts.
According to the organizers, short films will be assessed by:
- Birgit Beumers — jury chairperson, Germany;
- Alireza Shahrukhi — jury member, Iran;
- Ihsan Kabil — jury member, Turkey;
- Talantbek Tolobekov — jury member, Kyrgyzstan;
- Vladimir Karachevsky — jury member, Belarus.
The composition of the expert jury of the full-length film competition:
- Gu Guojin — jury chairperson, China;
- Joel Chapron — jury member, France;
- Milyausha Aituganova — jury member, Russia;
- Ruben Peralta Rigaud — jury member, USA Dominican Republic;
- Nigora Karimova — jury member, Uzbekistan.
The festival program also includes an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Indian actor Raj Kapoor, a retrospective of films by the French actor Alain Delon, master classes from foreign directors and actors Majid Majidi, Avtandil Makharadze and Hema Malini.
For the first time, a forum dedicated to the animated films of the countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) will be held within the festival.
