The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic confirmed to 24.kg news agency the fact of a road accident involving Rosatom truck in Naryn region.
According to the ministry, the road accident occurred on September 2 on the second kilometer of Tuyuk-Suu — Min-Kush — Aral highway.
«A HOWO truck loaded with uranium waste was heading from the old Tuyuk-Suu tailings dump and drove off the highway. An emergency response team of the Emergencies Ministry from Dzhumgal district, police, and company representatives immediately left for the scene. The uranium waste did not spill out and is not dangerous. The scene was checked with a dosimeter,» the Emergencies Ministry added.
The press service noted that the uranium waste was safely loaded on another truck. The causes of the accident are being established.
