Weather alert: Mudflows and rockfalls possible in Kyrgyzstan due to local rains

Unstable weather, local rains that can cause mudflows and rise the water level in rivers, as well as rockfalls, are expected in the mountainous and foothill regions of Kyrgyzstan from August 15 to August 16. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

According to the forecast of the Department of Monitoring and Forecasting of Emergencies, mudflows and rockfalls are possible in the following districts of the republic:

  • Batken, Leilek, Kadamdzhai — Batken region;
  • Ak-Suu, Jeti-Oguz, Issyk-Kul, Tyup and Ton — Issyk-Kul region;
  • Zhaiyl, Issyk-Ata, Chui, Panfilov, Alamedin, Moskovsky and Kemin — Chui region;
  • Dzhumgal, At-Bashi, Kochkor, Naryn and Ak-Tala — Naryn region;
  • Suzak, Ala-Buka, Bazar-Korgon, Nooken, Aksy, Chatkal, Toguz-Toro and Toktogul — Jalal-Abad region;
  • Kara-Kuldzha, Uzgen, Nookat, Alai, Chon-Alai and Kara-Suu — Osh region;
  • Bakai-Ata, Aitmatov and Talas — Talas region.

Mudflows and rockfalls are possible in the following sections of the roads of the republic:

  • Bishkek — Osh 285, 342-348, 358-362, 400, 411-426 kilometers,
  • Osh — Sary-Tash — Irkeshtam 64-65, 68-70, 78-80, 100, 121-124, 133 kilometers,
  • Bishkek — Balykchi 112-128 kilometers (Boom Gorge),
  • Balykchi — Bokonbaevo 64-117 kilometers,
  • Taldy-Suu — Aral 4-5 kilometers,
  • Myrzake — Kara-Shoro highway 18-28, 32-37, 44-56 kilometers,
  • Kerben — Ala-Buka — Kanysh-Kiya 2-4, 12-13, 22-24 kilometers,
  • Osh — Isfana 64-78, 125-138, 149-190 kilometers.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations calls on citizens and drivers of the republic to be vigilant and observe precautions.
