Mudflow floods Rukh Ordo Cultural Center in Cholpon-Ata

The territory of Rukh Ordo Cultural Center is being cleared after a mudflow. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

The mudflow occurred on August 12 at about 9.30 p.m. due to heavy rains. Floodwaters flooded 1 store, 7 residential buildings and the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center named after Chingiz Aitmatov in Cholpon-Ata. Water also got into the basement of a residential building in Baktuu-Dolonotuu village.

In the morning, 46 rescuers, led by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Boobek Azhikeev, began cleaning Rukh Ordo Cultural Center. Two engineering vehicles of the Civil Defense Service are involved.

«To quickly clear the center, the transfer of 75 rescuers and equipment from the Ministry of Defense is expected,» the Ministry of Emergency Situations added.
