Economy Ministry develops Made in Kyrgyzstan program

The Ministry of Economy has developed a draft national export program Made in Kyrgyzstan for 2024-2027. The ministry has submitted the document for public discussion.

The background statement says that the draft program was developed to increase the country’s export potential and the competitiveness of domestic products in the world market.

It is noted that in October 2021, President Sadyr Japarov approved the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2026. According to it, the state intends to support companies with high export potential by providing them with preferential loans and trade information. The main objectives of the program include the creation of a state institute to support exporters and the expansion of the laboratory base for testing with the allocation of sufficient funds from the state budget.

Made in Kyrgyzstan program for 2024-2027 states that the government plans to support exporters by promoting their products abroad, facilitating access to financing, and simplifying trade procedures. It will also improve national infrastructure to improve product quality.

Export support will continue, focusing on the following areas:

  • Textiles and clothing, including traditional handicrafts and footwear;
  • Fruit and vegetable products;
  • Nut and bean products;
  • Dried products;
  • Honey and bee products;
  • Dairy products;
  • Meat and fish;
  • Jewelry;
  • Soft drinks, including national ones.

The Kyrgyz Export Promotion Center will assist exporters in the following ways:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of measures to increase the export potential of the Kyrgyz Republic;
  • Develop international and interregional ties to promote Kyrgyz goods abroad;
  • Help diversify the country’s economy through export support;
  • Coordinate the work of government agencies, local authorities, international organizations, business communities, public associations and scientific organizations on issues of export development and promotion.
