As part of the implementation of the Presidential Decree «On urgent measures to preserve the ecology of Issyk-Kul lake», the Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan is accelerating the installation of automated water quality monitoring systems. The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported.
The main monitoring facilities include:
- A stationary station in Bishkek at Bishkekvodokanal facility will provide round-the-clock water quality monitoring in the capital;
- An autonomous station at Oshgorvodokanal municipal enterprise facility is intended for water monitoring in the southern part of the country;
- Two autonomous stations on Issyk-Kul lake for year-round monitoring.
The stations are mobile and can be moved to any specified point on the lake surface.
«The uniqueness of the system is that the stations are designed for round-the-clock use, even in difficult field conditions. They are powered by solar panels and batteries or can be connected to an AC network. The data is transmitted via a wireless GSM/LoRa network, and a directional antenna can be used in remote areas to improve the data transmission range,» the ministry noted.
«The system will provide superior data and improve understanding of environmental conditions compared to manual sampling, which will significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of water resource monitoring in Kyrgyzstan,» the ministry added.
