Olympics 2024: Denis Petrashov tells about lack of food and "slow" pool

The first swimmer in the history of Kyrgyzstan, who reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games, Denis Petrashov, commented on the organization of the largest international competition in Paris to a sports blogger Maria Ivanova.

According to him, the Games are poorly organized.

«I expected this, so I left right after the swim. At first, it was very bad with food. Big queues, although 50 percent of the athletes had not yet arrived. The food was running out. Then everyone started complaining, and it was fixed two days later. The queues remained, but at least there was food. There was no air conditioning, there was only one fan, and it was hot enough in Paris. The rooms themselves were normal,» Denis Petrashov said.

The swimmer also told about the pool. According to him, it is «slow.» It is about the size of the pool, which was only 2.2 meters deep. The classic requirement for an Olympic pool is 3 meters.

«I swam on the first day, and it was unexpected in a bad way. I saw that everyone swam poorly in terms of results. In the final, the athlete who swam in 59.03 seconds took the gold, everyone realized that it was not about us, but about the pool,» Denis Petrashov said.

The athlete arrived in Bishkek. He plans to return to the United States at the end of August, continue his studies and training.

Denis Petrashov took 14th place at the Olympic Games in Paris in the 200-meter breaststroke. He took 23rd place in the 100-meter breaststroke.
