Measles incidence declines in Kyrgyzstan

The incidence of measles has declined in Kyrgyzstan. Director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis Gulbara Ishenapysova told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, if previously about 800 cases were recorded per week, now there are about 200.

For six months of 2024, more than 11,000 cases of measles were registered across the republic with two deaths. The cases are mainly registered in Bishkek and Chui region; a decrease is recorded in regions where a planned and catch-up vaccination campaign was actively carried out.

Cases of whooping cough also continue to be registered; about 1,000 cases are known.
