The Bishkek City Court sentenced an activist Kanykei Aranova to three and a half years in prison. Media Policy Institute reported.
According to the organization, on June 28, the judicial panel for criminal cases, based on the submission of the prosecutors, changed the verdict of the court of first instance and sentenced Kanykei Aranova to three years and six months in prison under Article 330 «Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious interregional hostility (discord) » and 327 «Public calls for violent seizure of power» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kanykei Aranova was taken into custody in the courtroom. It was decided to transfer her 11-year-old daughter to the care of relatives.
The activist was detained in Moscow on February 1, 2024. After her arrest, she was taken to Kyrgyzstan ещпуерук with her daughter. Aranova is known as an active social media user. She was already brought to justice in the fall of 2022. The police called her a blogger. Then she spoke out on transfer of the land of Kempir-Abad reservoir.
