A carpet production workshop is being launched in Ak-Sai border village. The press service of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in Batken region reported.
In Soviet times, the building of the enterprise belonged to a confectionery factory. A major renovation was carried out at the facility to implement the project for the production of handmade carpets. At least 2,800 million soms were allocated from the republican budget.
ARIS installed the necessary equipment as part of the project to support local communities. The workshop’s partner is Kyrgyz Kilemi enterprise. Their craftswomen teach 32 rural women to weave carpets. The opening of the enterprise is expected in the near future.
