The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan recommends farmers to store this year’s crop of fresh onions in warehouses until the stabilization of prices. The press service of the ministry reported.
As the ministry notes, onion prices have fallen sharply in recent days in some EAEU countries and neighboring states.
«For example, the price of onions is at its lowest level in the neighboring countries. Due to the lack of a sales market, the vegetable is distributed to the population for free. One of the reasons is that onions are grown in excess in these countries, which reduces the demand for the product,» the Ministry of Agriculture said.
The ministry created a coordination council to maintain stable prices for agricultural products and to provide appropriate assistance to farmers.
