Sadyr Japarov: Kyrgyzstan leads in EAEU in terms of real wage growth

Poverty, rising prices and unemployment remain pressing problems in Kyrgyzstan. President Sadyr Japarov announced this at a nationwide meeting on social mobilization Zhany Kadam.

The increase in food prices is especially striking. Compared to 2022, the cost of a number of products has increased 1.5 times.

President Sadyr Japarov

«I have long understood that we were handed over a country with a weak economy. But when I came into power, I saw that we had practically no production. This made me feel resentful and angry. Even after years of discussions about food security, everything remained just empty words. Even meat and vegetables had to be imported from abroad,» the head of state noted.

Over the past two years, according to Sadyr Japarov, world prices for wheat, sugar, oil, fuel, fuel oil, diesel fuel, construction and industrial goods have increased significantly. In this regard, Kyrgyzstan, dependent on imports and the external economy, is facing a wave of increased prices, and global inflation is damaging its economy.

«Despite this, we managed to maintain macroeconomic stability. As you remember, in April 2022, we significantly increased the salaries of teachers, doctors, social and cultural workers, municipal and budget employees, law enforcement officers, military personnel and border guards,» the president said.

Over the past two years, Kyrgyzstan has been leading in the Eurasian Economic Union in terms of real wage growth.

President Sadyr Japarov

«We were able to prevent further poverty growth as wage growth exceeded inflation. However, I understand very well that many Kyrgyz families still face difficult living conditions. Therefore, guaranteeing food security, improving living conditions and the level of well-being of our people is my main task,» Sadyr Japarov assured.
