At least 540 kilometers of irrigation canals will be repaired, daily and ten-day regulation pounds will be built in 2024. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev said.
He noted that due to the dry climate, low water levels are expected this year. For this reason, 100 major water management measures will be taken.
Bakyt Torobaev reminded heads of districts of their personal responsibility for water supply to farmers. «Before the start of irrigation work, submit your proposals and begin active work. Renovate the facilities using the «people’s construction» method,» he said.
The official called on farmers to openly tell the heads of district about what types of seeds they need; the state is ready to provide them. He noted that the country has sufficient reserves of fuels and lubricants, and added that the State Material Reserves Fund currently has 10,000 tons of fuels and lubricants.
