More than 800 criminals found in Kyrgyzstan using video cameras in 2023

About 3,000 crimes were solved using video surveillance cameras in 2023. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

As part of the implementation of measures to digitalize the activities of internal affairs bodies, in order to detect offenses and take prompt measures, about 3,000 video surveillance cameras have been installed in public places. More than 800 of them are connected to the Operational Control Center of the Public Security Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for online monitoring. More than 100 cameras are connected to the facial recognition system.

With the help of the cameras, more than 800 wanted criminals were found and detained in 2023, more than 100 of them were put on the international wanted list by Interpol, the location of about 150 missing people was established, and about 200 fights were stopped.

In order to expand the public safety monitoring area, at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with local authorities, it is planned to install appropriate software and increase the number of outdoor video surveillance cameras.
