The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov meet with the Interior Minister of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev in Moscow. Press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
On behalf of President Sadyr Japarov, the minister presented Vladimir Kolokoltsev with the Dostuk Order.
The parties discussed issues of interstate cooperation, including combating cross-border drug crime.
They also discussed the results of implementation of the first phase of the program for providing financial and material assistance in the fight against drug trafficking.
«Over the period of the program since April 2020, the indicators have increased significantly. If 503 kilograms of hard drugs were found and seized in 2018-2019, then more than 1 ton of drugs were found and seized in 2020-2021. The activities of three clandestine drug laboratories, including those for the production of drugs of the cannabis group and for the production of synthetic drugs, have been liquidated, » the statement says.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that joint Kyrgyz-Russian exercises were held in 2021 on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the fight against drug trafficking. Ulan Niyazbekov expressed interest in extending the program for 2023-2025.
The need for training of highly qualified specialists, including narrowly focused (IT technologies, cyber threats, drug crime) and the possibility of increasing quotas for admission to educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on a budget-funded basis, was voiced.
