«Arstanbek Abdyldaev (Arstan Alai) committed suicide,» the State Penitentiary Service said.
The state service noted that on January 5, 2024, at approximately 05.15 a.m., body of the accused Arstanbek Beishenalievich Abdyldaev was found hanging in the canteen of the special medical correctional institution No. 31 of the Penitentiary Service.
The Penitentiary Service stated that the Oktyabrsky District Court of Bishkek applied a preventive measure against Arstanbek Abdyldaev in the form of detention in the pre-trial detention center 1 of Bishkek from December 16, 2023 to January 15, 2024. But on December 28, 2023, on the recommendation of a psychiatrist, the accused was transferred to colony No. 31 with a preliminary diagnosis «unspecified psychiatric personality disorder, hallucinations.»
«After arrival at colony No. 31 on December 29, 2023, Arstanbek Abdyldaev turned to doctors with complaints of periodic heart pain, headaches, tinnitus, stomach pain (after eating), and frequent fatigue. Based on the results of the examination, a preliminary diagnosis was made: unspecified psychotic personality disorder, coronary heart disease, hypertension of very high-risk, and a decision was made on the need for a consultation with a cardiologist, a gastroenterologist and a commission examination by psychiatrists in the conditions of the Republican Mental Health Center to clarify the clinical diagnosis. On January 5, at approximately 4.52 a.m., Arstanbek Abdyldaev entered the canteen department of the colony, where he was found hanged at 5.15 a.m.,» the statement says.
«During the initial examination of the corpse, no bodily injuries were found. To determine the mechanism and true cause of death, a forensic medical examination was appointed, which was entrusted to the Republican Center for Forensic Medical Examination in Bishkek. A pre-investigation check has begun,» the Penitentiary Service concluded.
Earlier, lawyer Kaisyn Abakirov announced the death of Arstanbek Abdyldaev (Arstan Alai). He demanded that the Prosecutor General’s Office conduct an investigation.
Social media users began reporting the death of Arstan Alai on December 23, 2023. But both the lawyer and the Penitentiary Service denied this information.
