Increase in ARVI, flu incidence: More than 16,000 cases registered for week

At least 16,223 cases of ARVI and influenza have been registered in Kyrgyzstan for a week from December 18 to December 24. The Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance reported.

According to the department, compared to last week, there is an increase of 40.2 percent, but, unlike the same week in 2022, there is a 2.1-fold decrease in incidence.

At least 65.2 percent of all the cases are children under 14.

In this epidemiological season, influenza A and other respiratory viral infections are mainly circulating, the department noted.

Monitoring for COVID-19 also continues. Since the beginning of 2023, about 479 cases have been registered among the population.

From two to five cases are registered weekly now, but there are no severe cases. Patients receive mostly outpatient treatment.

Considering the seasonal increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, as well as children’s New Year parties, corporate events, parties, and so on, doctors urge to comply with preventive measures.

If a child develops symptoms of ARVI, he or she should not be sent to school or kindergarten until they recover; it is necessary to turn to a doctor at the place of residence.
