Slight increase in ARVI and flu incidence registered in Kyrgyzstan

A slight increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) is registered in Kyrgyzstan. Press center of the Ministry of Health reported with reference to the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance.

According to the weekly monitoring of the incidence of influenza and ARVI, 3,958 cases of ARVI were registered in the republic from May 15 to May 21, which is 5.8 percent more than in the previous week.

At least 75.1 percent of all cases are children under 14 — 2,974 cases.

«Acute respiratory viral infections can be caused by unstable weather, which leads to a decrease in the body’s defenses and contributes to an increase in the incidence. At the same time, adults with acute respiratory viral infections are more unlikely to stay at home and go on bed rest. If sanitary and hygienic measures are not followed, they infect their children and members of their families,» the ministry noted.

According to the results of laboratory tests taken from patients, only respiratory viruses are detected, such as respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza types 1, 2 and 3, metapneumoviruses, rhinoviruses, adenoviruses, seasonal coronavirus, which confirms the acute respiratory viral infections.
