More than 10,000 cases of ARVI, flu registered in Kyrgyzstan for week

At least 10,112 cases of ARVI (acute respiratory virus infection) and influenza were registered in Kyrgyzstan in the second week of 2024, from January 8 to January 14. The Department of Disease Prevention, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance reported.

Compared to the first week of the year, the incidence increased by 22.5 percent.

 About 65.4 percent of all the cases are children under 14.

«According to laboratory results, the epidemic season is caused by influenza A/H3N2. A total of 1,387 samples from patients were taken. There is circulation of acute respiratory viral infections, with rhinovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza and other viruses prevailing,» the department noted.

High incidence was registered in Bishkek, as well as in Chui and Batken regions.

As for COVID-19, epidemiological situation in the republic is stable; four cases were registered in the capital and Chui region over the past week.

Monitoring of the incidence of influenza, ARVI and COVID-19 continues, the epidemiological situation is under control.

A mask regime and quarantine are still in force in all healthcare organizations.
