EU imposes sanctions against Putin's niece and Medvedev's son

The European Union has imposed personal restrictions against 61 people and 86 organizations as part of the 12th package of sanctions against Russia. The list was published in the Official Journal of the EU.

Among the sanctioned individuals are Ilya Medvedev, the son of Deputy Security Council Chief Dmitry Medvedev, Anna Tsivileva, the wife of Kuzbass governor and niece of Vladimir Putin, Alexei Shaposhnikov, chairman of the Moscow City Duma, Yuri Chikhanchin, head of Rosfinmonitoring, Alexander Potapov, director of Uralvagonzavod, Radi Khabirov, head of Bashkiria, and 14 members of the Central Election Commission.

The Tsargrad and Spas TV channels, Alfa Insurance Group, and Alabuga special economic zone were added to the blacklist of legal entities.

The EU’s 12th package of sanctions includes a ban on imports of Russian diamonds, exports of chemicals, thermostats and lithium batteries, and re-exports to Russia of «particularly sensitive goods and technologies» when sold to third countries.
