Changing the flag of Kyrgyzstan will entail billions in expenses - deputy

Changing the flag of Kyrgyzstan will entail billions in expenses. Deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Tazabek Ikramov told reporters.

According to him, the state symbol should not be changed.

«Replacement of passports for 7 million citizens, number plates of cars, stamps... It is better to build hospitals for children and kindergartens instead. There is no need to change the flag. There is no need to waste billions of soms. The situation in the country will improve when all citizens, from a common man to the head of the Cabinet, love their homeland. It would, of course, be good if we changed the flag and everything would be resolved right away. But that doesn’t happen. When you raise people’s problems, they say that there is no money... I am against spending a lot of money on changing the flag,» Tazabek Ikramov said.

The upcoming change of the country’s national flag is being actively discussed in Kyrgyzstan. The initiative to change the flag belongs to the Speaker of the Parliament Nurlanbek Shakiev.

According to the initiators, correcting the sun’s rays is aimed at improving the flag. However, social media users do not agree with the proposal.

The President also commented on this matter. According to Sadyr Japarov, in general he supports the idea.
