The first specialized Children’s Cardiac Surgery Center was opened in Kyrgyzstan. The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) reported.
The RKDF allocated $1.5 million to the Bishkek Prime Heart Clinic for the implementation of the project.
«The company carried out a major renovation of the building and purchased high-tech medical equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers. The new clinic can diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases and perform complex cardiac surgeries on adults and children. There are 20 beds in the inpatient department, and 10 in the intensive care unit,» the Fund noted.
At least 52 percent of deaths in Kyrgyzstan are caused by cardiovascular diseases. Every year, more than 2,000 children are born in the country with congenital heart disease, and half of them die before they turn 12 months without receiving timely qualified care. In total, more than 16,000 people die from heart disease in Kyrgyzstan every year — twice as many as the world average.
Chairman of the Board of the RKDF Artyom Novikov noted that previously medical services of this level for the treatment of heart disease have not been provided in the country. Citizens had to travel abroad for treatment and spend huge amounts of money on operations. The modern clinic will make these services more accessible. «We expect that the new institution will help reduce mortality from heart diseases in our country and save the lives of many young Kyrgyzstanis,» he said.
