The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan commented on the beating of a Kyrgyz woman by her ex-husband in Turkey.
According to the Consulate General in Antalya, in December 2022, the citizen of Kyrgyzstan and a Turkish citizen officially divorced. By a court decision, a child born in marriage remained in the care of the mother.
At the end of May this year, the Consulate General organized a meeting of the woman with a lawyer and provided the necessary consultations on the issue of travel to Kyrgyzstan with the child who is a Turkish citizen. According to the woman, in connection with the Turkish court’s consideration of the issue of alimony payments, she intended to stay in the country until the end of the process.
It is noted that the woman, accompanied by her sister, visited the Consulate General on September 21. To assist in resolving existing issues, an agreement was reached with the Fund for the Support of Women who are victims of domestic violence to provide assistance to the affected citizen. However, for unknown reasons, she did not contact the fund for help.
The Consulate General in Antalya provides consular and legal assistance and keeps the issue under control.
Earlier, the victim’s sister appealed on social media to the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan with a request to organize the sister’s safe arrival in the Kyrgyz Republic.
