First Lady was informed about introduction of bone marrow transplantation

It is planned to introduce bone marrow transplantation for children on the basis of the National Center for Maternal and Childhood Welfare. The press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The First Lady Aigul Japarova and the Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev visited the healthcare organization.

The management of the center informed about the introduction of operations on bone marrow transplantation for children. Sultan Stambekov, head of the Oncology Department, told that an increase in incidence is registered in Kyrgyzstan in recent years. But it is not due to an actual increase in incidence, but to improved diagnostics and statistics.

To date, detection has increased by 50 percent, he said. Up to 50-60 children need bone marrow transplantation every year in the country. Twenty of them need autotransplantation, 40 — allogeneic transplantation. The price of the latter abroad (in Turkey and Russia) reaches $100,000.

The center plans to organize first autologous transplantation and after the development to switch to allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.

Alymkadyr Beishenaliev noted that at the initial stage purchase of an apheresis machine, cryocylinders for nitrogen is required for the introduction of autologous transplantation.

Negotiations with Turkish partners are underway to purchase the necessary equipment. In parallel, work will be carried out to send Kyrgyz specialists to Turkey for training in bone marrow transplantation in the near future.
