Kyrgyzstan interested in attracting companies from USA

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs of the United States, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Jeenbek Kulubaev confirmed the interest of Kyrgyzstan in attracting U.S. companies with new technologies in the spheres of green economy, energy, transport infrastructure and digitalization, as well as in the educational sector.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic added that the parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations and strengthening interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the United States, including within the framework of C5+1 regional platform.

The denunciation of the agreement between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and the United States on cooperation occurred on the initiative of former head of state Almazbek Atambayev in 2015. The document provided for humanitarian aid, economic and technical assistance to Kyrgyzstan. All supplies under U.S. assistance programs were not subject to taxes and customs duties, and U.S. civilian and military personnel working in the country were granted diplomatic status.
