Some Internet providers in Kyrgyzstan have blocked access to Kloop.kg website. Investigative journalist Bolot Temirov posted on X (Twitter).
«Some providers have started blocking Kloop website. They refused to remove the material, which, according to the State Committee for National Security, is fake. I respect you for your position,» he wrote.
The editorial office itself also confirmed that access was limited by the mobile network operator O! and Homeline.
Kloop.kg materials can be read at this link.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy rejected a complaint against the department’s decision to block Kloop.kg website.
Thus, the intention to shut down the media outlet remains in force. Officials demand the removal of «inaccurate information» under the headline «Politician Ravshan Dzheenbekov said that he is being tortured in pre-trial detention center 1.» The order was signed by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Culture Chyngyz Esengulov.
Yesterday the media outlet published a statement on its website saying that the editors would not delete the material. «We do not believe that the news contained any false information. The tenacity with which the authorities want to silence us only makes their actions even more suspicious,» the Kloop.kg statement says.
It was reported on August 28 that Bishkek prosecutor Emilbek Abdymanapov filed a lawsuit in court to liquidate Kloop.Media public foundation.
The lawsuit, in particular, states that «most of the publications are of a negative nature, aimed at discrediting representatives of state and municipal bodies», «Kloop.Media publications contain hidden manipulations of the opinion of the society, which are imposed negative processes that do not correspond to reality, and create opposition to any undertakings of the current government».
The prosecutor cites several headlines and materials from Kloop.kg, which, according to the oversight body, are sharply critical of the government.
The prosecutor’s office also accuses the public foundation of concealing a large amount of funds.
