One of the streets in Batken city was named after the serviceman Makhamatzhan Mapaev, who died during the invasion of Tajikistan in September 2022. Office of Presidential Envoy to the region informed 24.kg news agency.

Shooting began at several sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border at once on the morning of September 16, 2022. Settlements in Leilek and Batken districts came under fire. Hundreds of Kyrgyzstanis were injured, and many servicemen were among the dead.
Makhamatzhan Mapaev, 42, was seriously wounded in a mortar attack. He died. He had four children.
