Budget revenues from Kumtor decrease by 4.7 percent of GDP for 5 months

Revenues to the budget of Kyrgyzstan from Kumtor enterprise for January — May 2023 decreased by 4.7 percent of GDP. A macroeconomic outlook of the Eurasian Development Bank says.

It is also noted that the value of exports for the same period increased by 21.9 percent. It occurred mainly due to the resumption of gold supplies to Switzerland.

«If the resumption of gold exports is sustainable, we can expect a reduction in trade deficit in the rest of the year,» analysts say.

The EDB also noted that in January — June this year the decline in gold production reached 9 percent compared to the high rates of January — June 2022, when the growth was about 30 percent.

«We expect that the growth rate in the industrial sector will increase in the second half of the year. This will be due to recovery of positive dynamics in the gold mining sector,» the outlook says.
