Kyrgyzstan imports 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for six months

The volume of electricity imports to Kyrgyzstan reached 2,104.1 billion kilowatt-hours in January — June 2023. The National Statistical Committee provided such data.

Compared to last year, the figure increased by 513.3 million kilowatt-hours. Most of the electricity was imported from Turkmenistan — 1,07.5 billion kilowatt-hours. In addition, the republic purchased 667.5 million kilowatt-hours from Kazakhstan, 283.4 million kilowatt-hours from Russia and 145.6 million kilowatt-hours from Uzbekistan.

The total cost of imported electricity amounted to almost 5 billion soms.

This means that one kilowatt cost 2.4 soms on average. At the same time, the republic bought electricity for 2.6 soms from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, and for 2.09 soms from Russia.
