Data from the UN’s World Meteorological Organization and EU-funded Copernicus Climate Change Service reveals this July is set to be the hottest month ever recorded. UN News reported.
According to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, July has already seen the hottest three-week period ever recorded, the three hottest days on record, and the highest-ever ocean temperatures for this time of year. «We don’t have to wait for the end of the month to know this. Short of a mini-Ice Age over the next days, July 2023 will shatter records across the board,» he said.
According to him, all this is entirely consistent with predictions and repeated warnings. The only surprise is the speed of the change. Guterres also added that scientists have no doubt that climate change is the result of human activity.
«Climate change is already happening. And what is happening is horrifying. And this is just the beginning,» he said.
The era of global warming is over, the era of global boiling has begun. This air is impossible to breathe. This heat is unbearable.

«And the level of revenue from fossil fuels and climate inaction are unacceptable,» the Secretary General stressed.
According to António Guterres, the international community can still limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius and avoid the most dangerous consequences of global climate change. Some progress, he stressed, is still noticeable: there is an active introduction of renewable energy sources; positive steps are being taken in sectors such as shipping. But none of this is happening as much or fast enough, and rising temperatures require fast action.
António Guterres again called on the leaders of the G8 countries, responsible for 80 percent of global emissions, to step up climate action.
