Construction of new reservoirs to begin in Kyrgyzstan in 2024

Construction of new reservoirs will start in Kyrgyzstan next year. President Sadyr Japarov told journalists about this.

According to him, the new reservoirs will help solve the problem of lack of water for irrigation.

«Problems with irrigation are primarily related to climatic conditions. Secondly, this problem in our country, which stands at the source of water, arises due to the lack of daily regulation ponds (DRP). DRPs, built back in the Soviet years, are now operating. We will start building new ponds from next year. We will allocate all the money for this. After it the irrigation problem will be solved. I got the country into my hands that has come close to the brink of the abyss. We solve all problems one by one. If for 33 years at least one DRP and a hydroelectric power station were built, then we would now have 33 hydroelectric power stations and 33 DRPs. 33 HPPs would produce 300 megawatts of electricity. This is just one industry example. There are many problems. We must be patient. We’ll resolve everything. It takes time,» he said.
