The volume of water in Toktogul reservoir by October 2023 will be 2 billion cubic meters less than expected. It was announced at a meeting of the republican headquarters chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev.
It was originally planned that by October 1, there would be 14.3 billion cubic meters of water in the Toktogul reservoir. Current forecast is 12.4 billion cubic meters.
In this regard, Bakyt Torobaev instructed to strictly control compliance with electricity consumption limits.
«Starting from the heads of state administrations, heads of districts, heads of rural administrations and ending with the heads of all relevant state institutions, together with the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan OJSC, everyone should take strict control over compliance with electricity consumption limits. It’s the summer season now, let’s save electricity. Let’s use the water of Toktogul reservoir wisely,» he said.
It was also noted that the supply of coal and fuel oil for the heating and power plants (HPP) in Bishkek and Osh and the repair of power equipment were going according to plan. Thus, 1.2 million tons of coal will be purchased for the capital’s HPP, including 550,000 tons of imported fuel. Other 1.3 million tons of coal must be prepared for the population.
The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers stated that the population should be provided with coal in sufficient quantity and at an affordable price in a timely manner.
«Heads of regions and districts, I ask you to control the domestic price of coal. There are many private companies in the country that mine it. They should not illegally raise the price and be intermediaries. The Cabinet of Ministers will ban coal exports, if private coal mining companies raise the cost for domestic consumers when exporting fuel. First of all, coal mining companies must cover the coal needs of budgetary institutions and the population,» he said.
Bakyt Torobaev also instructed the members of the republican headquarters to promptly resolve all issues related to the upcoming autumn-winter season so that the situations that were last year in Mailuu-Suu and Orlovka would not repeat.
