A monument to film director Bolotbek Shamshiev was unveiled at Ala-Archa cemetery. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov attended the ceremony.
«Bolotbek Shamshiev is a great man who entered the history of world cinematography as one of the directors of the «Kyrgyz miracle». His films were known not only in the USSR, but also beyond its borders. Bolotbek Shamshiev has repeatedly proved that Kyrgyz cinema can compete even with the works of famous world directors. We grew up with the films of this great film director, which had a significant impact on the spiritual development of the individual. The memory of him will live in the hearts of his contemporaries,» he said.
The head of the Cabinet recalled that in 2022 Bolotbek Shamshiev was awarded the title «Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic» with a special badge «Ak Shumkar».
«The name of Bolotbek Shamshiev will forever be inscribed in golden letters in Kyrgyz culture and cinema art,» he concluded.
