At least 189 million soms were appropriated during the construction of Osh — Batken — Isfana road. Press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan reported.
«From 2017 to 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Communications transferred $20,136,220 to the contractor’s account for the reconstruction of Osh — Batken — Isfana highway from 75th to 108th kilometer. Despite the fact that the contractor did not complete work for 189,200,223 soms, the ministry accepted work completion certificate and put the road into operation. The state suffered damage in the amount of 189,200,223 soms,» the statement says.
Based on the results of the audit, the Prosecutor General’s Office initiated a criminal case under Articles 337 (abuse of official position), 245 (abuse of authority by employees of commercial or other organizations) and 346 (forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation is ongoing.
