The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved three candidates for the post of member of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Altynbek Kubatbekov, a candidate from Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan faction and Mekenchil deputy group, worked for the internal affairs bodies for 17 years, the last two years — at the Council for the Selection of Judges.
A candidate from Yntymak faction Mirlan Konurbaev did not come to the committee meeting. According to the deputy Marlen Mamataliev, he did not come due to family circumstances. Konurbaev is now a representative of the Board of Directors of Manas International Airport OJSC.
The third candidate is Kalysbek Boronbaev from Eldik faction. He is an employee of the Office of the Parliament, a former assistant to ex-deputy Omurbek Tekebayev.
Deputies agreed to dismissal of Akylbek Eshimov, a member of the Central Election Commission, from his post at a meeting of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on May 31. Yntymak, Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan factions together with Mekenchil and Eldik deputy groups nominated their candidates.
Akylbek Eshimov was detained in September 2021. According to investigators, the CEC member in collusion with one of the leaders of Kyrgyzstan political party in June 2020 received $ 550,000 from the applicant in order to be included in the top five candidates for deputies from the political organization in the parliamentary elections scheduled for autumn 2020.

On May 11, the Bishkek City Court convicted the former CEC member. He was found guilty of fraud and sentenced to three years of probation supervision.
