President tells head of European Council about observance of human rights

Kyrgyzstan highly values the cooperation and partnership established with the European Union, which have played an important role in the progress and transformation of the republic since independence. The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at a meeting with the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

According to the head of state, Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting the rule of law and protecting human rights.

«However, we recognize that there are still challenges that need to be overcome, and we are determined to overcome them with the support of our international partners. One of the key areas of our cooperation is economic development. Kyrgyzstan is endowed with abundant natural resources and a young, talented workforce. We strive to use these resources and unlock the potential of our country,» said Sadyr Japarov.

He stressed that the experience, investment and technical assistance of the European Union played an important role in supporting efforts to diversify the country’s economy, develop the private sector and create stable jobs.

«In addition, we highly appreciate the EU’s commitment to regional integration and connectivity, included in the EU strategy for Central Asia. Our country is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia and strongly believes in the importance of strengthening regional cooperation for stability, prosperity and peace. We strive to expand trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges that will not only benefit our peoples, but also contribute to broader stability and development of our region,» Sadyr Japarov said.
