China allocates $3.7 billion to Central Asian countries to alleviate poverty

China will provide the countries of Central Asia with assistance in the amount of $3.7 billion. The Chinese President Xi Jinping said, speaking at China — Central Asia Summit in Xi’an.

«China will provide 26 billion yuan ($3.7 billion) in financial assistance and free support to the Central Asian countries to contribute to China’s cooperation with the Central Asian countries, as well as their development,» Xi Jinping said.

He added that China would make a plan for scientific and technological cooperation with Central Asia in the field of poverty alleviation, and will also encourage Chinese companies that do business in the region to create more jobs.

The China — Central Asia Summit was held on May 18-19 in the Chinese city of Xi’an under the chairmanship of Xi Jinping. It was attended by the Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
