The leaders of the G7 countries issued a joint statement in which they outlined plans for cooperation with the states of Central Asia to combat global challenges, including the military conflict in Ukraine. The statement was drawn up following the results of the Hiroshima summit and published on the White House website.
«We emphasize the intention to cooperate with the countries of Central Asia to resolve various regional challenges,» the statement says.
In addition to the military conflict in Ukraine, the situation in Afghanistan, problems in the field of food and energy, terrorism, and climate change are also mentioned among other global challenges.
In addition, the G7 countries announced their intention to support joint projects in the field of transport, including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and further to Europe.
Director for Sanctions of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office David Reed visited Bishkek at the end of April. He told at a meeting with journalists that the United Kingdom treats cultural, humanitarian, economic ties between Kyrgyzstan and Russia with understanding and does not call on Kyrgyzstan to isolate itself from the Russian Federation.
The head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said that the country was not afraid of Western sanctions.
According to Bloomberg sources, the European Union is discussing measures against countries that help Russia circumvent sanctions, first of all, the new tool will be applied to the countries of Central Asia and «Russia’s closest neighbors.»
