The Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Altynbek Maksutov met with the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic Marilyn Josefson. Press service of the ministry reported.
The head of the Ministry of Culture stressed that the EU and the Kyrgyz Republic have been partners since the country gained independence in 1991 and cooperate in many areas. Ambassador Marilyn Josefson expressed her interest in developing cultural cooperation between the European Union and Kyrgyzstan.
The parties also discussed the second meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the President of the European Council, which will be held in Cholpon-Ata city on June 2, 2023.
Marilyn Josefson also invited the Minister Altynbek Maksutov to take part in the European Summer Festival 2023, which will be held on May 26-27 in Yntymak-2 park in Bishkek. The festival will be attended by representatives of all EU member states and the local private sector, she said.
Marilyn Josefson stressed that they would like to hold the next festivals in other cities of the country.
Altynbek Maksutov thanked the European Union for the assistance provided to Kyrgyzstan during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the meeting, the parties agreed on further development and strengthening of cooperation.
