Criminal cases were initiated against 80 policemen in Kyrgyzstan last year. Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev announced at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to him, 56 criminal cases were initiated against 80 employees of the internal affairs bodies in 2022. Seven policemen received prison sentences, eight were placed on probation, 26 were fined, 29 were acquitted, and 10 cases were dismissed due to expiration of the statute of limitations for the crime.
At least 11 criminal cases were considered against employees of the prosecutor’s office. One prosecutor was found guilty and taken into custody, two were fined, six were acquitted, and the case of another one was sent for further investigation.
