The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan arrived in Naryn region to participate in the official ceremony of completion of At-Bashi hydropower plant (HPP) reconstruction project. Press service of the Cabinet reported.
Akylbek Japarov noted the importance of At-Bashi HPP for the region. After the reconstruction, capacity of the plant was increased from 40 to 45.7 megawatts. Switzerland allocated $25 million for the implementation of the project. These funds were used to reconstruct and modernize all electromechanical equipment.
«From now on, At-Bashi HPP will not only be able to provide the population of Naryn region with electricity, but will also make a great contribution to the social and economic development of the entire region,» the official said.
He noted that 15 billion soms were allocated in 2022 for the development of the power industry. Construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 was started, the fourth hydroelectric unit of Toktogul HPP was put into operation, which had been idle for two years. About 50 small HPPs are under construction.
